Baby of the Year 2025 Competition

The promoter of the competition is Ackermans, a division of Pepkor Trading (Pty) Ltd (“the Promoter”). 

The name of the competition is the “Ackermans Baby of the Year 2025” competition (“the Competition”). 

The Competition will run from 1 September 2025 to 31 October 2025 (both days included) (“the Competition Period”). 

By entering the Competition and/or accepting any prize, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. 

The total prize value is R150,000, which will be shared equally among three winners. Each winner will receive a prize valued at R50,000, as selected by an independent judging panel of Ackermans representatives. 

The Competition is open to all participants within the Republic of South Africa that are citizens (in possession of a valid ID book or card) and residents (in possession of a valid permanent residency permit). You are not eligible to participate in this Competition if: -  

You are a director, member, partner, employee, agent or its affiliates/divisions/subsidiaries or any other person who supplies goods or services in connection with the Competition. 

You are a spouse, life partner, parent, child or sibling, immediate family member, business partner or associate of the persons specified above. 

To enter, participants must: 

Upload a photo of their baby in Ackermans clothing using the official online entry form at www.ackermans.co.za/pages/baby-of-the-year. 

Post the same photo on social media (Facebook and Instagram), tagging @ackermans_za and using the hashtag #MyAckermansBaby. 

Set their social media profiles to public 

Each entry must be of a baby who is fully dressed. Photos showing nudity or inappropriate content will be disqualified and deleted. 

Children entered must not be older than 36 months on 31 October 2025 (the closing date of entries). 

Entry is free. Only one entry per child is allowed, and only one prize may be awarded per entrant. 

Ackermans reserves the right to disqualify entries submitted with false information or those submitted via automated or bot-driven means. 

Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable for cash. 

The prize will be delivered to winners at the address provided during the confirmation process. 

The winner selection will take place after the closing of the competition. The winners will be selected by an independent judging panel made up of Ackermans representatives. 

Winners will be contacted by phone between 10am and 3pm within 7 days of the selection. If a winner cannot be reached within 2 working days, an alternate winner will be chosen. 

The winners will be publicly announced within 7 days from the closing date. 

You confirm that any child entered is under your legal guardianship and that you are authorised to submit their image and information for the purposes of this competition. 

The Promoters and their delivery agent do not accept responsibility or liability for any loss or damage and will also not be responsible or liable for any further expenses or fees required for the purpose of using, applying or enjoying the prize won in this campaign. 

Winners give the Promoters and its authorised agents consent to use their names and images for publicity purposes, unless refused. 

The Promoters reserves the right to vary, suspend, postpone or terminate the campaign and any prizes, or any aspect thereof, for any reasons whatsoever and without notice. In such event, you hereby waive any rights or expectations which you may have against the Promoters and acknowledge that you will not have any recourse or claim of any nature against the Promoters. 

Your privacy is very important to the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies and it will use all reasonable efforts in order to ensure that any information, including personal information, provided by you, or which is collected from you, is stored in a secure manner. For more information, please refer to the detailed version of our Privacy Statement. 

You agree to provide Pepkor with accurate and current information and to maintain and update such information when necessary. The information collected by Pepkor may be used to send you information about products, services, and special offers of the various companies in the Pepkor group that may be of interest or value to you. The information may also be processed by the Promoters and other companies in the Pepkor group, any of their operators, agents and sub-contractors (who may be outside South Africa) on the condition that they will keep such information confidential. 

You acknowledge that any information supplied to the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies in terms of these Terms and Conditions is provided voluntarily. 

By submitting any information to the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies in any form you further acknowledge that such conduct constitutes an unconditional, specific and voluntary consent to the processing of such information by the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies under any applicable law in the manner contemplated above, which consent shall, in the absence of any written objection received from you, be indefinite and/or for the period otherwise required in terms of any applicable law. 

Unless you have consented, the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies will not sell, exchange, transfer, rent or otherwise make available any personal information about you (such as name, address, email address, telephone or fax number) to other parties and you indemnify the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies from any unintentional disclosures of such information to unauthorised persons. 

Should you believe that the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies have used your personal information contrary to applicable law, you shall first resolve any concerns with the Promoters and the Pepkor group of companies. If you are not satisfied with such a process, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. 

You can choose to be excluded from direct marketing by notifying the Promoters in writing or by registering a block on any registry which the Promoters is bound by law to recognise. The Promoters will not charge you a fee to update this request on its systems. The Promoters will give effect to any changes requested by you as soon as reasonably possible.
