Your denim decoded

Denims are a timeless classic with it’s brilliance that lies in it’s versatility. We will help you to decode the denim styles for the whole family. Before we start, lets get some technical terms out of the way.

High rise
This style of denim indicates how far the waist band sits from the navel. This style offers a structured fit around your mid section.

Mid rise
Positioned on top of your hip bone and just above your navel, mid-rise denims offer a comfortable fit.

Low rise
Positioned below your hip bone and almost right at the top of your thigh. Synonymous with the mid 2000’s, this style is associated with loose, casual fitting denims.

Now, lets find out what each style of denims actually mean.

The skinny
Once considered a trend, skinny jeans are now a wardrobe staple. Tapered, so that it fits like a glove, this style of denim is suited for all body types as it creates the illusion of an elongated silhouette and hugs your curves in the right places. From basic t-shirt and flip flops to block heels with a blazer in a pop of colour. There is no wrong way to style this denim.

The Mom jean
This high-rise denim accentuates your curves and is tapered at the waist, this style is suited for hourglass shapes but will also give the illusion of an hour glass. The cut will conceal the volume in your hips. Pairing your mom jeans with a shirt is a quick and easy way to go from casual to chic. Button it down leaving your neck exposed and paired with a block heel adds sophistication.

The Jegging
Jeggings are essentially leggings made from denim stretch material. If you have a rectangular shape- square shoulders and long slender legs, then take advantage of this style. It will fit you like a glove, flatter and enhance your figure. A simple ballet flat paired and peplum top will add a little shape but still maintain comfort and style.

Tube jeggings offer the same comfortable fit throughout your day, but gives that extra tapered look as the hem should sit above your ankles.

The Ankle grazer
Loved by many petite ladies (meaning you have a small waist and rounder hips), this cropped style sits right on the ankle. High waisted denims, with a little stretch to the fabric is what you need to add structure to your figure. Keep this in mind when you are fitting on denims. Thanks to it’s relaxed fit and tapered cropped leg, this style is perfect to wear all summer.
