Layered to perfection

Autumn is such a magical time of the year, the transitional season that moves summer to winter. Let your wardrobe mirror this time of year with thoughtful layering and warm colour combinations.

The colour of change

Rust is big this year, and we are seeing rust tones in everything from make-up and hair to fashion. Be sure to look out for this colour in prints, as well as in a variety of basic items.

How to layer a tee and a dress

Tee and dress layering is a slightly intimidating trend as it is so retro and can easily make you look like you’ve tepped out of the 90s if not done correctly! Fear not, however, with modern styling you too can rock this nostalgic ensemble. Keen on other ways to wear a basic tee? Consider these awesome looks on summery days.

Do make sure that at least one of the items, either the dress or the shirt, is simple with a solid colour and no distracting prints. This ensures that the focal part of the outfit pops.

Don’t forget to check that your colours are complementary. A good rule of thumb is to choose a top that has the least prominent colour in the print. For example, if you style a floral dress with a plain top, the best colour for the top is the least prominent one on the print of the dress.

Too hot and too cold

Layering  is your best friend when experiencing all four seasons in one day.  For chillier days, put on a pair of stockings under your dress and style with a pair of boots. Ankle boots are always a winner for an everyday look.
