6 ways to keep your phone safe this festive season

The holiday season is a time for relaxing, but don’t let your guard down when it comes to safety – these tips can help keep your cellphone and personal information safe.

  1. Password-protect your phone and apps by setting up a password or turn on fingerprint our touch ID in your phone setting.
  2. Don’t wear your phone in your back pocket. The best place is in your front pants pocket, in an inside jacket pocket or inside your bag in a compartment that can be zipped closed.
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when you’re not using it. When leaving these services turned on, radios are constantly searching for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks to connect to. Anyone sitting nearby could pick up that signal and gain access to your phone. Keeping them off will also help conserve battery life.
  4. Invest in a good cellphone case to protect your phone from dirt.
  5. Use a screen protector – it protects your screen from scratches and also absorbs some of the impact if dropped.
  6. At the beach, put your phone in a plastic bag to prevent getting it wet and sandy. Also keep it out of the sun to prevent it from overheating.
