For a mom with a baby, an outing can be stressful and exhausting. But if you’re prepared, you can also enjoy the day.
Baby’s nappy bag
- Pack the number of nappies you’ll need plus an extra two, for in case
- Baby wipes for cleaning bottom, grubby face and hands
- Bum cream
- Sealable or disposable bags for soiled nappies, dirty clothes and rubbish
- Burp cloth or bibs to wipe dribbles
- Sunscreen and a hat if you’re going to be outside
- Food to nibble on – soft fruits, such as bananas and pears if baby is on solids, mashed in a small plastic bowl
- Receiving blanket to give you privacy when you’re breastfeeding and to put baby on when it’s time for a nappy change
- Bottles and formula, if you’re not breastfeeding. Pre-measure formula in containers and take pre-boiled, cooled water in a flask.
- Dummy, with an extra in case one gets lost
- Change of clothes for emergencies, rolled into a tight bundle for easy packing

- Spare change for treats
- Bottle of water
- Snacks such as biltong or dried fruit
- Hand sanitiser
- Small toys
- Emergency card with contact information
- ID book just in case
