6 ways to tell if your baby is ready for solids

Look out for these signs that mean your baby is ready for solid food.

When your baby:

  1. Needs to be fed more often because baby is not satisfied after a feed.
  2. Can sit with support and is able to lift themselves on their elbows when lying on their stomach.
  3. Wakes up more regularly for night feeds than before.
  4. Has lost the natural tongue-thrust reflex (pushing everything that’s placed in the mouth back out).
  5. Starts showing an interest in your food.
  6. Has doubled their birth weight.
